Letting the dust settle from the massive transplant party, finishing out some stuff in the “real” world (work stuff), and getting ready to switch my server (more space = more downloads!). Pics, live sets, and thoughts on the party coming, as is a mix for Gutterbreakz, and more bloggy “have you considered this piece of music lately” type stuff. For now, a little list of stuff:
Tiny Plaid Ninjas are back!
Heatwave are doing there thing this weekend with another installment of Mas Fuego. I think it’s probably happening at the moment of this post, so so much for pre-show publicity, but I’ve been told a very very special guest not listed on the flyer is making an appearance, so if you’re reading this in London this very minute, go go go!
Rick Santorum is a bastard hypocrite in the fight to keep the filibuster. Check out this ridiculous statement. Reading this from Pennsylvania? Call the mofo up and request your money back.
On the flip, George Galloway is blinding!! Check out his report before congress about the corruption of the Oil for Food program. AND, Ripley pointed out, where is he the MP from? Bow. Making him Dizzee’s MP. Nice one!
Baze Djunkiii has turned Nitestylez into a blog, which is a good format for him because he’s a pretty disciplined and prolific writer. He’s the one responsible for Otaku Records, Hamburg’s finest shop and one of the few people carying Grime/Dubstep forward in Germany. Respect.
And, BOTS!!!!!! I realized that there are a lot of Bots out there in the Ragga jungle world. ERS1 states it best: “Nuff Bots a gwan.” Here are my favorites:
Raggabot: ERS1 and Dialekt, long time junglists, now in Santa Barbara. Blinding mixes, dubplate pressure.
Murderbot: Mashit‘s newest signing from what I’m learning is the center of the American glitched out IDM/intense MAX programming/Ragga jungle lovin’ scene. Kansas City, who knew? Murder’s got a lovely site up, complete with elephants, and tunes and mixes for ya.
Sensibot: New Zealand ragga heads doing there thing in upsidedown land. Very cool looking parties/crew. Can’t touch the bot himself for style. I’d have him working door at one of my parties.
And when all else fails, cute cat pictures. Deal.

In reply to a couple of recent comments I made at Gutterbreakz, you wrote:
“It smells like a cosying up, you scratch my back, weird handshake, wannabe in with the crowd decision if you ask me. It’s not all about exclusiveness and buying limited edition records you know.” + “I am just pointing out what it might look like to an outsider.” = A very small-minded, very obvious case of green-eyed jelousy by someone who won’t even sign a name to their post. Get with the freakin’ program bro – Gutter couldn’t have stated his reasons more soundly or clearly, and don’t dare to front on his immense, hard work that he does for no other reason than to spread the sound. “There is nothing wrong with catering for all sorts” Right, all sorts including both those that want to hear all new sounds and producers who don’t want a single 1/44100th of a second out of their control. Gutter has struck a medium that he, and presumably the producers he occasionally personally interacts with are comfortable with. “I can no longer access some of these releases you feature (that I can’t afford to buy)” Boo-hoo. Get a higher paying job or else start writing producers yourself. Free MP3s are a privilegde, not a right.
If I seem harsh, it’s because I have no patience for anyone who fails to see the immense amount of time Gutter, myself, and others put into their forums, and generally not much for people who don’t step out of their own situation to consider other points of view.
In reply I should say that I’m perfectly well aware of how much time and effort Gutter and others put in to producing their blogs. I run a blog myself. But that wasn’t the issue. Neither am I small-minded or jealous. (Why exactly am I small-minded? And what exactly am I supposed to be jealous about?) And yes, I didn’t sign my name to my comment – that’s what the anonymous button is for. You seem to have a problem with anonymity for some reason, although I don’t see why you need to. What difference does it make if you know who I am or not? My opinions (and those of others) are still valid, either way.
“Get with the freakin’ program bro”.. Whose programme? Yours? The Man’s? I have my own, independent way of thinking and doing things thanks and have no wish to follow anyone’s programme. Yes, Gutter stated his reasons, and I merely disagreed with his position. What’s wrong with that? I don’t actually doubt that Gutter puts in his hard work in order to promote the music he likes. I simply think that by posting at 96 kbps rather than at a higher quality rate, the music is less likely to be shared and therefore promoted. I say, spread the word as much as possible. He has struck a medium, as you state, but one I think is skewed towards the labels and producers, rather than everyone else. I therefore questioned the reasons for this shift in his opinion.
Your “Boo-hoo” comment was spoken like a true capitalist. Are you really suggesting that only people with high paying jobs should be able to access music? Hmm.. You say that free MP3s are a privilege, not a right. I think music is too expensive and is ultimately controlled by a massive industry whose main objective is profit, not the music. Blogging and sharing (some) MP3s is one way around this.
I don’t expect a reasoned response to this message, but you’re welcome to surprise me. Your lack of patience when attacking me was unnecessary as I’m perfectly aware of Gutter’s efforts. Likewise, my initial comment at Gutterbreakz was somewhat over the top (although the underlying concern is still valid). I certainly do consider other people’s points of view: I’ve considered Gutter’s reasoning and I disagree with it, simple as that. That is allowable, isn’t it? You might be a capitalist but I hope you won’t reveal yourself to be a fascist too.
